Ashoka University lays foundation stone for new 27-acre campus for science and research activities

Ashoka University On Wednesday, the foundation stone of a new campus on 27 acres was laid in Sonipat. The campus will address the university’s growing focus on science and research. Situated adjacent to the existing campus, the new campus will have 6 academic buildings, 10 residential buildings, utility and service buildings and a playground.

The university is currently spread over 25 acres. “Upon completion, the new campus will add 3500 more students to the Ashoka campus, taking the total to 6000 students. The new campus is expected to be fully operational by 2027.”

Ashoka University said that existing departments will also have organic growth as the number of students has increased, and new majors and minors may be introduced over time.

The new campus will have an area of ​​1.80 million square feet integrated with the existing facility and will follow Ashoka University’s existing campus design philosophy and unique brick and lattice facade. The new campus will include solar roofs, sewage treatment plants, water treatment plants, rainwater harvesting among others to make it a net-zero carbon campus.

Prof Malbika Sarkar, Vice Chancellor, Ashoka University said, “With the new campus, Ashoka will be able to bring in more students and faculty and enhance its research facilities.”
