Ashes 2023: Stuart Broad strikes early to remove David Warner; Watch

New Delhi: Australian batsman David Warner once got caught in the trap of his arch-rival Stuart Broad. In the third Test match of the Ashes series at Headingley Cricket Ground on Thursday, the British gave their team a great start.

Broad got Warner’s wicket for the 16th time

The right-arm fast-medium bowler got Warner’s wicket for the 16th time. Warner and Broad continued the old battle with Broad always dominating the southpaw.

Warner’s wicket

Warner started the innings strongly by hitting a four in the first over. But it was Broad who had the last laugh as he dismissed the Aussies on the last ball of the first over. Warner later succumbed to Broad in the first over, with Warner trying to tuck a Broad delivery outside the off stump that came around the wicket. There was not much seam movement or swing, although Warner’s tight hands did the job and the ball reached Jack Crawley in the slips who took a brilliant catch.

Bowler with highest hit ratio against singles batsman

This was the 16th time that Broad had Warner trapped, only four bowlers in cricket have taken the most wickets on more occasions than a single player. Australia’s Glenn McGrath dismissed Michael Atherton 19 times, Alec Bedser took the wicket of Arthur Morris 18 times while Curtly Ambrose and Courtney Walsh dismissed Atherton 17 times.

Australia is ahead 2-0 in the 5-match Test series. The Australian team has won both the opening matches of the series. Australia won the first Test match played at Edgbaston by 2 wickets, while in the second Test match it defeated England by 43 runs. Now England will have to win the third Test to save the series.
