Ashes 2021-22: Stuart Broad replaces Ollie Robinson, England announce playing XI for Sydney Test

Joe Root-led England on Tuesday announced their playing XI for the fourth Ashes Test, which begins on January 5 at the Sydney Ground. The visitors did not alter the batting order, but did make a headway in the pace attack. Veteran pacer Stuart Broad returned to the line-up and replaced Olly Robinson, who is the leading wicket-taker for England in the current series.

According to cricket.com.au, England assistant coach Graham Thorpe confirmed on Tuesday that both Robinson and Chris Woakes are currently suffering from shoulder pain. He also said that both Broad and Ben Stokes have points to prove at the SCG.

Robinson’s unavailability has opened doors for Broad who will form a strong fast bowling unit along with the likes of James Anderson and Mark Wood.

On the other hand, there was no change in the batting line-up after England were reduced to 68 in the second innings of the Boxing Day Test, giving the Aussies a 3–0 series win.
