Arnold Schwarzenegger Pumps Iron, Lifts Weights At Gym Weeks Before Turning 76

Los Angeles: Hollywood star Arnold Schwarzenegger was recently spotted lifting weights at a gym in Los Angeles, weeks before he turned 76. However, it is clear to see that he is still working out like he is training for Mr. Universe. He also used to exercise while riding his bike to work, reports mirror.co.uk.

The former California governor exercises his arms while sitting on a workout bench using a workout machine. He didn’t pay any attention to the other gym-goers as he wore all black – a black T-shirt, black shorts, black slip-on trainers, and black calf-length socks.

In typical Terminator fashion, he also wore tinted sunglasses the entire time.

While biking, Arnold wore a blue zip-up jacket with an orange, red, and white emblem. He is also seen keeping his hair color brown while his beard and mustache look naturally white.

The Venice Beach gym where he was seen working out was the first gym Arnold trained in upon his arrival in the US. He was trained by Joe Weider, the creator of the Mr. Olympia bodybuilding contest. Arnie later won the Mr. Olympia title seven times.

He began his career as a bodybuilder and took up the sport at the age of 15 in his home country of Austria. At age 20, he won the Mr. Universe bodybuilding contest, after coming in second place the year before.

He said, “The Mr. Universe title was my ticket to America, the land of opportunity, where I could be a star and get rich.” He has won a total of three Mr. Universe contests.

It should come as no surprise that the bodybuilder-turned-actor first gained attention with the 1977 bodybuilding film Pumping Iron. Since then, he has been in many films ranging from Conan the Barbarian to Jingle All the Way.

Arnold took a break from acting in 2003 to become Governor of California. In 2011, he reached his term limit and returned to acting.

2011 is also the year that Arnold’s secret son was made public. Joseph Baena was revealed to be his son with former housekeeper, Mildred Patricia Baena.

Joseph is following his famous father’s footsteps into bodybuilding and starring in the upcoming film ‘Called Duty’.
