Army will remain central in protecting national interests as India rises in stature: Rajnath Singh

Speaking on the Army Day, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said that the Indian Army inspires confidence among the citizens as it keeps a close watch on the borders of the country.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said on Saturday that the Indian Army will remain at the center of protecting national interests as India’s stature and strength is rising.

Speaking on the occasion of Army Day, the Minister said that the Indian Army inspires confidence among the citizens as it keeps a constant vigil on the borders of the country.

In a message sent from the army’s Twitter handle, he said, “The Indian Army is preparing for an increased operational role in dealing with the newly emerging multi-sectoral security challenges.”

Singh said the response of the Army during natural calamities has been remarkable and appreciated by all.

“As India grows in stature and power, the Indian Army will remain central to safeguarding our national interests and furthering our national aspirations,” he said.

The government is strongly committed to the capacity development of the Indian Army and the welfare of its rank and file, their families, veterans and Veer Naris (war widows).

“On this day, we pay tribute to our brave soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice in the service of the nation,” he said. Singh said the nation is also united in expressing solidarity with the families of those who have lost their loved ones. Those with courage and perseverance.
