Indian Army medical staff responded quickly and assisted in the emergency delivery, ensuring the safety of both the mother and the newborn

A defense spokesman said here that Army medical personnel helped a woman to deliver a baby girl while being taken to a hospital in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Thursday.

Colonel Imron Musavi said that Harmida Begum, a resident of Jadda village in Tangdhar area, was being referred to Kupwara district headquarters due to her critical condition.

He mentioned that patient movement was expedited at Sadhna Pass, which is manned by the Army.

However, after a few minutes, her ambulance returned to Sadhna Pass as she began to go into labor. The spokesperson said the medical staff accompanying her faced difficulties due to complications arising during the delivery.

He said the medical staff of the Indian Army responded quickly and assisted in the emergency delivery, ensuring the safety of both the mother and the newborn child.

Colonel Mousavi praised the army medical staff for their resilience and timely delivery, which brought joy to the worried family members of the woman.

He said the parents named the baby girl ‘Sadhana’ to acknowledge the location and to honor the efforts of the Indian Army.

The pass is named after yesteryear actress Sadhna, who once shot a film there.
