New Delhi: After three days crude bombs were thrown out BJP MP Arjun Singhin home West BengalThe Center in North 24 Parganas district has upgraded their armed security cover to ‘Z’ category.
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Monday issued an order giving the responsibility of security of the leader to the Central Industrial Security Force (MHA).CISF“The paramilitary wing under the central government took charge on Tuesday,” a government source told ANI.
The leader will be provided security cover only in West Bengal, the source said, adding, “Arjun Singh was earlier being provided “Y+” category security by the CISF.
CISF is providing ‘Y+’ security cover to Arjun Singh since March 2019.
Singh, MP from Barrackpore parliamentary constituency, has now been kept under round-the-clock security cover of over nine armed CISF personnel. A squad of five armed commandos will provide security to the leader while traveling inside West Bengal.
The BJP leader was given security charge soon after the National Investigation Agency (NIA) took over the probe into the crude bomb attack outside his house on Monday.
Three country-made bombs were hurled outside the house of Arjun Singh ‘Mazdoor Bhawan’ in Jagdal BengalIn spite of security arrangements in North 24 Parganas district of K. between 6 am to 6.30 am on 8th September. The bombs hit one of the entrances to the house, although no casualties were reported in the incident.
The BJP leader was not present at his home and was in Delhi at the time of the incident, but his family members were inside the house.
Soon after the attack, the BJP reacted strongly and Darjeeling MP Raju Bista demanded an NIA probe into the matter.
NS West Bengal BJP The ruling Trinamool Congress has been claimed to be behind the attack on the BJP MP’s residence.
However, the TMC had denied the allegations and said that the attack was a result of internal strife in the Bengal BJP.
Singh, who was a Trinamool Congress MLA, joined the BJP in 2019 Lok Sabha Won and won elections from Barrackpore parliamentary constituency.
