Kapoor said that he was never afraid of playing gray characters in his career.

“I’ve been fortunate from my first film that the kind of roles I’ve done have enough color, be it ‘Aurangzeb’ or ‘Ishaqzaade’. I’ve never been afraid to play gray roles, and that’s why it’s exciting for me. To come back to where I started,” he said.

“I have done ‘Half Girlfriend’ with him (Suri), ‘Ki & Ka’, ‘2 States’, I have done all kinds of films. I always wanted to go to the dark side and put it like this. Wanted to do in the set-up and script, which was good,” he said.

The 49-year-old actor, who has previously played unconventional characters in films like “Dhoom”, “Jism” and “Shootout At Wadala”, says “Ek Villain Returns” is like a “ghar wapsi” for him.

Abraham said, “It’s homecoming for me. When I first started with films like ‘Jism’, it was kind of a negative shade. Sometimes it’s boring to play a hero and it’s good to do something different.
