Arabs clash with police over alleged grave digging in East Jerusalem

Arabs clashed with Israeli police in East Jerusalem on Sunday evening after Palestinian media claimed that the Jerusalem Municipality had dug several graves next to the eastern wall of Jerusalem’s Old City to build a park.

Dozens of rioters torched a storage container and pelted stones at police, with video shared on social media showing sound grenades being used against rioters.

Palestinian media reported earlier in the day that Israeli workers had dug several graves at the Yusufiya Cemetery, next to the eastern wall of the old city of Jerusalem, near the Golden Gate, while working on building a new park. Reports shared photos and videos, purportedly showing human bones found in dirt excavated from the area.
