The US Department of Justice (DOJ) has intensified its two-year-old antitrust investigation into Apple Inc over the past several months, raising the prospect of a trial, The Information reported Monday.
DOJ lawyers have questioned Apple, its customers and competitors about how the company maintains its tight control over the iPhone, the report said, citing two people with knowledge of the investigation.
According to the report, the investigation is “likely to lead to trial, although the specifics are still in flux”.
The DOJ declined to comment, while Apple did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment.
