Nagpur : After central bureau (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED), Income Tax Department on Friday swooped down on former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh.
A day after the ED filed a chargesheet in the Deshmukh case, which said the former minister and one of his associates had received Rs 20 crore for overturning one of the most controversial orders of the former Mumbai police chief. Param Bir SinghA team of Income Tax Investigation Wing is raiding several places related to Deshmukh in Nagpur.
There are reports that the team covered an educational institution around 10 pm, which had Deshmukh and his relatives on the board of management, besides some offices and residential premises. One of the houses included a luxurious apartment in Nagpur, whose links were also linked to a close associate of Deshmukh. Insiders in Deshmukh’s office also confirmed the development.
