The results of the by-elections held on October 30 to three Lok Sabha seats in the country have been declared. In this, by-elections were held for Mandi in Himachal Pradesh, Khandwa in Madhya Pradesh and Dadar and Nagar Haveli parliamentary seats. Congress candidate Pratibha Singh has won in Mandi, while BJP candidate Dnyaneshwar Patil has been elected MP in Khandwa. For the first time, a Shiv Sena candidate has won from Dadra and Nagar Haveli. Here Kalavati Delkar, who contested the elections under the banner of Shiv Sena, defeated the BJP candidate. Read the detail report of all the three seats…

1. Dadra and Nagar Haveli

What were the results? : Shiv Sena candidate Kalavati Delkar has won from Dadra and Nagar Haveli parliamentary by-election. Kalavati is the wife of late Mohan Delkar, a seven-time independent MP here. Mohan Delkar had died under suspicious circumstances last year. Kalavati got 59.5% votes while BJP candidate secured 33.68% votes. 2.79% people did not like any candidate. These people pressed the NOTA button. Congress got 3.10% votes.

Why Shiv Sena won? : Political expert and senior journalist Ramashankar Srivastava says that Mohan Delkar has been dominating the Dadra and Nagar Haveli parliamentary constituency since the beginning. Now after his death, Shiv Sena played a good game by giving ticket to his wife. Kalavati was sympathetic to her husband’s death in the by-election and was able to win by a huge margin. If Kalavati had contested the election as an independent like her husband, she would have been able to win. In such a situation, Shiv Sena also took the tag of winning in any other state outside Maharashtra for the first time by giving him a ticket. This was the plus point of Shiv Sena.

2. Mandi seat of Himachal Pradesh

What were the results? :
A total of 7 Lakh 42 Thousand 771 voters cast their votes in Mandi parliamentary seat in the polling held on 30 October. Out of these, Pratibha Singh of Congress got total 365650 votes. This was 49.14% of the total voting. Similarly, BJP candidate Khushal Singh got total 356884 votes which is 48.14% of the voting. 1.68% people opted for NOTA. Meaning he didn’t like any candidate. Others accounted for 1.03% of the votes.

Why did Congress win? : If we analyze the data, it is clear that NOTA has spoiled the game of BJP. Comparing with the figures of 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the vote share of BJP has come down drastically by 20.96%. In 2019, BJP candidate Ramswaroop Sharma got 68.7% votes. Congress candidate Ashray Sharma, who came second, secured 25.7% of the vote. Then the NOTA button was pressed by only 0.5% of the people. Congress has been giving competition to BJP in this Himachal seat. Ramswaroop Sharma, who won the 2019 elections on a BJP ticket, died under suspicious circumstances on March 17 this year. Therefore, in the by-election, the Congress made a political gamble by fielding Pratibha Singh, wife of former Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh, and got that success. Political expert Ashok Bajpai says that in Himachal Pradesh, people are angry with Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur in many cases. Rising inflation in this has done the job of tempering.

3. Khandwa Lok Sabha of Madhya Pradesh

What were the results? : In Khandwa Lok Sabha by-election, BJP candidate Dnyaneshwar Patil won by a margin of 81 Thousand 701 votes. Congress candidate came second here. If we look at the voting percentage, here BJP got 49.85% votes and Congress got 43.38% votes. Other candidates got 5.69% of the vote. 1.08% people pressed the NOTA button.

Nand Kumar Singh Chouhan alias Nandu Bhaiya of BJP had secured 57.1% votes in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections here. The Congress candidate Arun Subhash, who came second, had to be satisfied with 38.5% of the vote. This time the voting percentage of BJP has decreased as compared to the last elections, while the position of Congress has strengthened.

Why BJP won? : The BJP has dominated the Khandwa Lok Sabha constituency of Madhya Pradesh since 2014. Nand Kumar Singh Chauhan of BJP won from here in 2014 and again in 2019. Earlier, in the 2009 Lok Sabha elections, Congress’s Arun Subhash Chandra Yadav had won. The seat fell vacant after the untimely demise of Nand Kumar Singh. Political expert Mahesh Verma says that Nand Kumar Singh had made a place in the hearts of the people here. In such a situation, many people voted for the BJP in sympathy. Apart from this, the work of Shivraj Singh Chouhan also supported the BJP. However, due to the decrease in the voting percentage, it is clear that the problems of BJP may increase in the coming days.
