Amit Shah to inaugurate ‘Khelo India Youth Games’ in Panchkula

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will inaugurate the fourth edition of Khelo India Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said on Thursday that Youth Games will be held in Panchkula on June 4 at 7.30 pm.

Khattar said 8,500 athletes from 36 states and union territories will participate in the Games, which conclude on June 13.

“25 sports events will be organized in five locations-Panchkula, Ambala, Shahabad, Chandigarh and Delhi,” the Chief Minister told the media here.

The Khelo India Youth Games are being jointly organized by the state government. Play Authority of India (SAI).

Khattar said Tau Devi Lal Sports Complex in Panchkula would be the main venue with a seating capacity of 7,000 spectators.

Archery and football will be held at the Panjab University campus in Chandigarh, while swimming and gymnastics will be held in Ambala. The hockey event will be hosted by Shahabad, while the cycling and shooting events will be held in Delhi.

Khattar said, “In view of the scorching heat, all the competitions will be held in the morning and evening hours only.

He said that Rs 250 crore has been spent for hosting the sports festival.

“Out of the total amount, Rs 139 crore has been spent on improvement of old infrastructure besides creation of new infrastructure,” the CM said.

He said, “Khelo India Youth Games will play an important role in taking forward the dream mission of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.” “No stone will be left unturned to make the sport a huge success,” he said.

“We have got a golden opportunity to host these games and all arrangements have been made along with setting up of state-of-the-art facilities. Earlier also three editions of Khelo India have been organized but I assure you that this time due to the hospitality of the state both players and spectators will remember the games for a long time.

The Chief Minister said that the participating athletes would be accommodated in three star hotels and would be served high quality food.
