Amazon Hires Laid-Off Employee After 4 Months In Senior Role

New Delhi: An Amazon employee who was laid off in January is now back at the company, as the tech giant rehired her in a senior role just four months later.

Paige Cipriani is back at Amazon in the US as Product Marketing Manager, Social Marketing.

Speaking on Linkedin, Cipriani wrote, “I am very pleased to announce that on Monday I started back at Amazon on the Social Marketing team, the same team I was on before I was fired in January. was re-hired as Marketing Manager, a newly opened position, therefore focusing on a different line of business than before”.

“I feel very grateful to be back on such a great team and look forward to this new (yet familiar) journey,” she added.

In January, Cipriani shared, she was one of 18,000 workers affected by Amazon layoffs.

She wrote on LinkedIn in January, “Sadly, yesterday I woke up to the news that I was one of 18,000 employees laid off by Amazon. This has been incredibly difficult and I’m still trying to process it.”

Meanwhile, Amazon India has laid off around 400-500 employees from its cloud division AWS as well as People Experience and Technology Solutions (PXT) or HR and support vertical.

According to sources, the downsizing in the country was part of the 9,000 layoffs announced by Amazon CEO Andy Jassy in March.
