The much-awaited trailer of Ajmer 92 was released by its makers on Monday. The film has been in the news ever since its first teaser came out a few days ago. The film talks about the story of around 250 girls from Ajmer, Rajasthan, who were allegedly raped, sexually abused and blackmailed by the powerful and influential people of the city between 1987 and 1992.

The description of the video on YouTube reads, “The gripping trailer depicts the suicide of several minor rape victims, causing mass panic and hysteria.” The story revolves around how unhappy girls are blackmailed by powerful men. ‘Ajmer-92’ aspires to instill a sense of empowerment within women, encouraging them to break their silence and speak up bravely against any kind of tyranny.”

The trailer begins with a man giving a photo of his wife to a journalist to find out whether the girl has been raped or not. The trailer also shows how the police department and government officials tried to suppress the news. However, such incidents increase in the city and become a hot topic among the people and the bureaucrats. The journalist tries to publish such incidents in the newspaper for the awareness of the people. Then a police officer somehow agrees to help the journalist.

Directed by Pushpendra Singh, the film stars Manoj Joshi, Karan Verma, Sumit Singh, Brijendra Kala and Zarina Wahab in pivotal roles. The film is produced by Umesh Kumar Tiwari and will hit the theaters on July 21. The film is also facing protests and controversies as several Islamic organizations including Jamiat Ulema e Hind have demanded a ban on it.

However, the Rajasthan High Court dismissed a petition seeking a ban on it in theaters and OTT platforms.
