Boney Kapoor and Ajith Kumar’s Thunivu will release on Netflix a month after its theatrical release. The heist action thriller also stars Manju Warrier.
Ajith Kumar’s Thunivu released across the cinema halls on 11 January and turned out to be a huge hit. Despite the film clashing with Vijay’s Waaris, the film has managed to find its audience, with packed theatres, the buzz is that the film is all set to make its way to OTT. popular streaming giants netflix confirmed that the film is all set to stream from February 8.
After a month of theatrical release, the film is all set to enter the OTT space. Helmed by H Vinoth, Thunivu is a heist-thriller produced by Boney Kapoor. It is indeed a moment of great joy for the fans of Ajith. Netflix announced the news and shared, “It’s time to start exploding as Ajith Kumar is finally here! Thunivu is coming to Netflix on February 8 in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi and we can’t wait to scream!” Can! “
On the film front, the heist action thriller features Ajith in a new avatar. The film also stars Manju Warrier as the leading lady. This is Manju’s second Tamil film after Dhanush’s Asuran. Thunivu opened to huge numbers at the ticket window and was declared a blockbuster commercially. Earlier in an interview with Pinkvilla, Boney shared that his team is happy with the response and it was ‘exactly what they expected before the release of the film’.
“Actually, I was worried about a few things here and there, but then again, with the audience watching it in the cinema, it didn’t mean they accepted the film in totality and Ajith’s swag, performance, Thanks for the dialogue delivery, timing and of course, the other technicians and crew have also appreciated the subject.”
Boney has now worked with Ajith in three back-to-back films – ‘Nerkonda Paarvai’, ‘Valimai’ and ‘Thunivu’. Talking about the same, the filmmaker said, “I am getting all the love and affection in Ajith’s reflected glory and I am happy to accept it. I am glad that I got to work with him in 3 films . It’s been a wonderful journey.”
Talking about Ajith’s stardom, the filmmaker shared, that the credit goes to the actor’s ‘performance, personality and the kind of man he is’. “All these things together create an aura around him. It’s not always about boasting about yourself.”
Reportedly, Boney and Ajith may collaborate again for an upcoming film.
