Air India News: India’s flagship airline and Star Alliance member Air India on Saturday (December 24) announced its “FogCare” initiative to reduce the impact of disruptions due to fog on passengers. The initiative, which will be initially launched for flights departing and arriving at IGI Airport, New Delhi, is aimed at reducing unforeseen circumstances such as delays and cancellations amid the dense fog that engulfs northern India during the winter season. Under the new FogCare initiative, Air India will take proactive steps to isolate the impact of fog on flight operations, which typically occurs in the early morning and late evening, but often throughout the day.
Air India will proactively reach out to customers during the fog and give them the easy option to reschedule or cancel their affected flights at no extra cost. Passengers on affected flights may decide not to travel to the airport and avoid the inconvenience of long wait times. This will also help in reducing congestion at airports. Customer-friendly e-mails, calls and SMS with flight-specific advisories will be sent to passengers on affected flights, giving them easy options to minimize inconvenience caused by fog-related disruptions.
Commenting on the initiative, Rajesh Dogra, Chief Customer Experience Officer and Global Head of Airport Operations, Air India said, “We are delighted to launch the FogCare initiative, a customer-centric approach to ensure the best possible experience for our customers. This is another step in our journey to become a world class airline and will significantly improve the passenger experience during fog affected days. We will endeavor to provide our customers with updated information if their flight has been affected by fog and help They choose the best option given the circumstances. The airline is also ensuring adequate availability of aircraft, pilots, maintenance and cabin crew to be able to deal with fog related contingencies.
