Aiadmk Man Held For Posts Against Chief Minister | Coimbatore News – Times of India

Coimbatore: An IT wing functionary of AIADMK in Coimbatore was arrested on Wednesday on charges of spreading false and defamatory messages against the Tamil Nadu chief minister on social media.
The cybercrime police received complaints that N Subramanian, a resident of Oraikalpalayam in Sarkar Samakulam, has been posting highly objectionable and defamatory content against chief minister M K Stalin and his family.
Subramanian is IT wing secretary of Coimbatore rural district (north). Based on the complaints, he was booked under various sections of IPC including 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 505 (publishing or circulating rumours) and under the sections of the Information Technology Act, 2000. He was subsequently arrested and lodged in the Coimbatore Central Prison.
Meanwhile, former minister S P Velumani condemned the arrest. “Police should stop foisting false cases against IT wing functionaries, who are exposing the inefficiencies of the DMK government,” he said.
Police sources said that they arrested Subramanian on specific charges of spreading false information against the chief minister, which are defamatory.
