AHSEC ready to declare Assam Board class 12 results by June 20

Assam Higher Secondary education Council (AHSEC) is all set to announce its class 12 board results by June 20. Though the official date has not been announced, AHSEC on Tuesday assured a delegation of All Assam Students Union (AASU) that the results would be declared latest. June 20, as reported by the media. After the results are out, students can check their results at results.sebaonline.org, resultsassam.nic.in, assamonline.in, assamresult.in.

Whereas, the delegation led by students’ union general secretary Shankar Jyoti Barua and education secretary Bhabjit Bezbarua discussed possible solutions to class 12 students who did not get enough optional questions, which was earlier assured by AHSEC. Barua criticized AHSEC for not reducing the syllabus or providing the option of optional questions to Class 12 students in view of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The AASU delegation also met officials of the Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA), demanding that the class 10 results be declared by the first week of June. Though SEBA failed to give any assurance about the result date, it informed the delegation that most of the work related to the exam has already been completed.

The Assam Board Class 10 exam was conducted with 40 percent less syllabus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This year, over 4.31 lakh students had registered for the SEBA Class 10 or High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) exams, which were conducted offline between March 15 and 31.

AHSEC class 12 board exam was conducted offline between March 15 to April 12 for 2.15 lakh students, now many students are waiting for the result. Last year, AHSEC had canceled the board exams due to the rise in COVID-19 cases across the state.

Students were promoted to the next class on the basis of their performance in classes 10, 11 and 12 with an alternative assessment method. The final result was calculated on the basis of 50 percent weightage of the average of the three subjects in the Class 10 results. Whereas during class 11 and 12, 40 percent marks were given on the basis of internal assessment and other activities. The remaining 10 percent were based on this 90 percent.
