The new Vande Bharat can accelerate to 160 km/h in just 140 seconds, cutting travel time by 45 minutes.

The Indian Railways is gearing up to launch the third Vande Bharat train, soon to run between Mumbai and Ahmedabad.

Built at the Integral Coach Factory in Chennai, this new train has just completed a rigorous 15,000 km trial run to ensure it meets the highest standards.

Design & Features

The new Vande Bharat train promises to be more energy-efficient and comfortable than previous models, such as those running on the New Delhi-Varanasi and New Delhi-Katra routes. It’s designed to offer top-notch safety and comfort features, making travel on the already popular Mumbai-Ahmedabad route even better.

The train will sport a sleek blue and white color scheme and come equipped with AC chair cars and executive chair cars. It will also feature four platform-side cameras, including rear-view cameras, and high-efficiency compressors with UV lamps for cleaner air. Furthermore, it will have advanced air-conditioning with higher-efficiency compressors and UV lamps for germ-free air.

According to The Indian Express, the Coach Control Management System has been upgraded for better monitoring and feedback, ensuring smooth operations. Each coach is equipped with a 32-inch display for passenger information and improved flood-proofing capabilities.

Travel Time & Speed

The new Vande Bharat train boasts improved acceleration and deceleration, reaching speeds of 160 kmph in just 140 seconds. This will cut travel time by about 45 minutes compared to the previous models, completing the journey in roughly 5 hours and 25 minutes.

Schedule & Stops

The new train will run six days a week, excluding Sundays. The Ahmedabad-Mumbai Central Vande Bharat Express (train number 22962) will leave Ahmedabad at 06:10 am and arrive in Mumbai Central at 11:35 am. The return journey (train number 22961) will depart Mumbai Central at 15:55 pm and reach Ahmedabad at 21:25 pm. Stops include:

  • Vadodara
  • Surat
  • Vapi
  • Borivali
  • Mumbai Central

With its final trial successfully completed, the new Vande Bharat train on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad route is set to be officially launched soon. Passengers can look forward to a faster, safer, and more comfortable journey.
