Agitating farmers planning to protest outside Parliament every day during the monsoon session

New Delhi: The Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) on Sunday announced that a group of around 200 farmers would protest outside Parliament every day during the monsoon session, demanding the repeal of the Centre’s three agricultural laws.

Farmers’ organizations protesting on the borders of Delhi held a meeting today to discuss various programs to take the protest forward during the monsoon session beginning July 19.

The umbrella body of over 40 farmers’ unions said in a press conference post meeting that a “chatna patra (warning letter)” would be given to all opposition MPs to oppose the laws inside the House.

Farmer leader Balbir Singh Rajewal said in a statement, “We will also ask the opposition MPs to raise the issue every day inside the House on July 17, while we sit outside in protest. We will tell them not to benefit the Center by going out.” Give a session. Don’t let the session go on till the government addresses the issue.”

“We will continue to protest outside Parliament till they hear our demands,” Rajewal said.

According to media reports, five members per organization and at least 200 protesters will hold peaceful protests outside Parliament every day during the session.

The monsoon session of Parliament will begin from July 19 and will continue till August 13.

Farmers have been camping at the borders of Delhi since November 2020 over the Farmers Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020, the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Agricultural Services Act, 2020 and demanding essential commodities. (Amendment) Act, 2020 be withdrawn and a new law be made to guarantee the minimum support price for crops.
