After PM call for ‘permanent peace’, Pakistan accuses India of ‘false-flagging’ boat scare – Times of India

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan‘s foreign office slammed India on Sunday for attempts to “false-flag” any security scare such as the one involving an unmanned, arms-laden boat found drifting in the sea in Maharashtra’s Raigad last week and “build on this orchestrated terrorism narrative” against Islamabad.
“All this is nothing but a continuation of the sinister Indian design to yet again raise the terrorism bogey to malign Pakistan. We reject these allegations and Indian machinations outrightly,” the statement said, days after PM Shehbaz Sharif was quoted as telling Harvard students that his country wanted “permanent peace” with India.
The foreign office urged the international community to “take immediate cognisance of the fact that India’s sinister design could have serious implications for peace and security in the region”.
The statement claimed the Kashmir issue was at the heart of India allegedly trying to misrepresent information. “It reflects India’s utter desperation emanating from its complete failure to break the will of the Kashmiri people.”
On “preposterous” media reports alluding to the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks while highlighting the Raigad incident, the foreign office said, “Segments of the media reported that India had intercepted a message from a Pakistani WhatsApp number while seizing an empty boat in Maharashtra along with some weapons.”
According to the statement, Indian media tried to create a “distorted” picture by reporting that intelligence and border forces were on high alert for possible “cross-border infiltration” along Rajouri in J&K.
