Rohtak: Rohtak police on Sunday registered a case under Section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against one of the friends of Ajay Nandal, Commonwealth Games (CWG) bronze medallist Pooja Sihag’s husband who died of drug overdose on Saturday.
The cremation of Ajay’s mortal remains took place at his native village, Garhi Bohar, on Sunday.
As per the complaint, Ajay, who married Pooja last year, had gone with friends Ravi and Sonu on Saturday evening from his home for celebrating a birthday. Bijender Nandal, father of deceased, alleged that Ravi had forced his son to take a drug. Due to overdose, his son had died, he alleged. Ajay used to work in CISF and was a wrestler practising in a local academy, Mehar Singh Akhara.
The complainant said they had received a call that their son had been admitted to a private hospital. When the family reached there, doctors said he had died. Ravi and Sonu were also admitted for treatment on the same complaint of drug overdose.
Sub-inspector Harpal Singh said the body was handed over to the family of deceased and a sample of viscera had been sent to ascertain the exact cause of the death. Police said that Ravi and Sonu, friends of deceased Ajay Nandal, were under treatment.
Police claimed on the basis of the circumstantial evidence that Ajay and his friends had partied in the car.
