The Taliban’s deputy prime minister of Afghanistan, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, has released a video message now under intense pressure and questions over his whereabouts.

Baradar said, “There were reports in the media about my health and death. For the last few nights I have been on tours. Wherever I am at the moment, we are all fine, all my brothers and friends.” The clip, ARY News reported.

On the recent visit of the Foreign Minister of Qatar, where he was absent, Baradar said that he was unable to meet the visiting Qatari dignitary as he was on the visit.

The report said that there was information about the sudden visit of the Foreign Minister of Qatar to Afghanistan. The report said three members of the Haqqani family were at the summit led by Prime Minister Mohamed Hassan Akhund, along with representatives from Qatar, along with other members of the new Afghan government.

A major dispute broke out between Taliban leaders over the formation of the group’s new government in Afghanistan last week, the BBC reported. The report said that Baradar and a cabinet member had an argument at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

In recent days there have been unconfirmed reports of dissent in the Taliban leadership since Baradar’s disappearance. A Taliban source told BBC Pashto that Baradar and Khalil ur-Rahman Haqqani, the minister for refugees and a prominent figure within the militant Haqqani network, had exchanged stern words as their followers clashed with each other.
