Actor Vijay Babu gets anticipatory bail in sexual harassment case

Actor-producer Vijay Babu, accused of sexually assaulting a woman, has been granted anticipatory bail on certain conditions. A case was filed against Vijay Babu by an actress during the peak of #MeToo movement. The actress alleged that Vijay sexually harassed her while considering her for a role.

Now the Kerala High Court has granted him anticipatory bail in the case with certain conditions.

The following conditions have been imposed on Vijay Babu:

1. The petitioner should surrender before the Investigating Officer on 27th June at 9 AM for questioning.

2. The petitioner can be interrogated daily from 9 AM to 7 PM for the next seven days, from June 27 to July 3, both days inclusive.

3. The petitioner shall be deemed to be in custody during the said period to facilitate the needs of the investigation.

4. If the Inquiry Officer wishes to arrest the petitioner, he shall be released on bail on execution of a bond of Rs. 5 lakh with two solvent sureties with equal amount.

5. The petitioner shall not leave the State of Kerala without the prior permission of the Court of Jurisdiction and shall cooperate in the investigation.

A police complaint was filed against Vijay Babu on April 22, 2022. The actress also shared a social media post explaining and justifying her claims. He also claimed that he was offered Rs 1 crore to withdraw the case.

Vijay Babu had gone missing after the allegations. But on April 26, he came live on Facebook and addressed the allegation. He said, ‘I respect the law of the land but here I am the victim and my name has come up. So why not the name of the other party also come up.

Vijay Babu fled to Dubai after the case was registered.
