pc brand acer India announced on Thursday that it has partnered with Noida-based Dixon Technologies to manufacture laptops at Dixon’s state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, which will have the capacity to manufacture 500,000 Acer laptops annually.
Acer said it will bring global know-how and processes to manufacture high-tech electronic products to the laptop category, which will be implemented through Dixon Technologies’ facility.
Harish Kohli, Chairman and Managing Director, Acer India said, “We are excited about our partnership with Dixon Technologies (India), the largest in-house design-focused and solutions company engaged in manufacturing products for a variety of consumer products. ” Statement.
Kohli said, “With our global manufacturing prowess over 44 years and our robust processes, we are proud to be the catalyst in the manufacturing-led growth story for PCs in India.”
The company said the tie-up will give a strong impetus to India’s manufacturing competitiveness and will take advantage of Production Linked Incentives (PLIs) by the Government of India.
PLI is a game-changer for IT hardware brought in by the Government of India which will have the advantage of increasing domestic value addition and positioning India as a major export hub.
The impetus for PC manufacturing is particularly important as it can help reduce imports which have become more important as their use grows rapidly amid the COVID-19 restrictions.
