AAP’s Northeast regional in-charge Rajesh Sharma said that former MLA Asu Kiho has been appointed as the president of the party’s Nagaland unit.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will contest the Nagaland Assembly elections on February 27, but the party is yet to decide on the number of seats it will field candidates from.

AAP unsuccessfully contested two assembly seats in the 2018 elections.

AAP’s Northeast regional in-charge Rajesh Sharma said that former MLA Asu Kiho has been appointed as the president of the party’s Nagaland unit.

Sharma told the media that AAP would field candidates on maximum number of seats and there would be no alliance with any party. “To eliminate corruption, for the development and good governance of the state, it is time for the people of the state to vote for good and transparent governance. Nagaland needs honest and public interest politics.”

He said that the party would go to the grassroots level to bring about an effective and necessary change in the political scenario of Nagaland.

Newly appointed state party president Keyho said that the people of the northeastern state, who are studying or working in Delhi, have seen good governance and fulfillment of promises by the Arvind Kejriwal government there.

Therefore, an AAP-led government in Nagaland and other northeastern states is the need of the hour, Keyho said. He said that if voted to power, AAP will bring transparency and ensure recruitment in government jobs on the basis of merit and 80 per cent marks will be set aside for written test, 10 per cent for academic excellence and 10 per cent for interview.
