The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) House witnessed a high-decibel protest by BJP councilors after Oberoi declared the vote cast during the election “invalid”.

A day after a scuffle broke out between leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) following the standing committee elections at the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) House, the saffron party accused AAP leader Atishi of “orchestrating” Was accused. Ruckus. Simultaneously, the BJP also shared a poster titled “Khalnayak” taking a jibe at Atishi and Delhi Mayor Shaili Oberoi and AAP leader Durgesh Pathak.

Notably, Oberoi himself claimed to have been assaulted by some BJP corporators, namely Arjun Marwah, Chandan Chowdhary and Ravi Negi. He had also lodged an FIR against them at Kamla Nagar police station last night.

Senior BJP leader Siddharthan shared a video of the ruckus on Friday. In the video, AAP leader Atishi can be seen whispering something to a female AAP corporator, following which she started assaulting other corporators. Siddharthan linked the two and alleged that Atishi was behind the incident.

Out of 250 MCD corporators, 242 had voted till Friday afternoon and the counting process was also underway and lasted for two hours. Following this, Mayor Oberoi then told the members that a vote was invalid and without it the result would be declared, a move strongly opposed by the BJP members.

This happened when chaos broke out in the House as corporators from the BJP and the AAP started shouting and pushing each other. Both sides blamed each other for the incident which forced the mayor to adjourn the House.

The uproar led to the adjournment of the proceedings of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) House till February 27.
