Mumbai Police on Monday rescued a newborn baby from a drain after stray cats alerted residents near Pantnagar area.
According to a tweet by Mumbai Police, the child was found wrapped in cloth and after some cats created a ruckus on the streets and alerted the residents living nearby. Residents immediately informed Pantnagar police station about the child and the patrolling Nirbhaya squad
Crime hotspots of the city reached the spot.
At Pantnagar police station, a good Samaritan got a call that a child wrapped in cloth had been thrown into the drain. When the neighborhood cats created a ruckus, he became alert. “The child was taken to Rajawadi (Hospital) by the Nirbhaya squad of Pantnagar police station and is now safe and recovering,” police said in a tweet posted along with a picture of the officials with the child.
Police officers are searching for the parents who dumped the child and their identities are still unknown.
