Congress general secretary in-charge Jairam Ramesh told a press conference at the All India Congress Committee headquarters that former Congress chief Rahul Gandhi had raised serious issues during the Bharat Jodo Yatra and the nine questions are based on that.

On the occasion of completion of nine years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Congress on Friday asked him nine questions on issues like rising prices, unemployment and farmers’ income and demanded an apology for “betrayal” during his tenure.

The opposition party also said that the government should mark the day as ‘Apology Day’.

Congress general secretary in-charge Jairam Ramesh told a press conference at the All India Congress Committee headquarters here that former Congress chief Rahul Gandhi had raised important issues during the Bharat Jodo Yatra and the nine questions are based on that.

Ramesh, who was accompanied by party leaders Pawan Kheda and Supriya Shrinate, also released a booklet ‘Nau Saal, Nau Sawal’ and said that Modi became prime minister nine years ago on this day and hence the party wanted to ask nine questions. His.

Ramesh said, “We want the Prime Minister to break his silence on these nine questions.”

Questioning the Prime Minister, he asked, “Why is it that inflation and unemployment are skyrocketing in India? Why have the rich become richer and the poor poorer? Why is public property being sold to PM Modi’s friends, even as economic disparities are increasing?” Ramesh also asked why is it that the repeal of the three “black” farm laws has struck a chord with farmers. The agreements made have not been honored and why there is minimum support? The price is not legally guaranteed. He questioned why farmers’ income has not doubled in the last nine years.

Accusing the government of indulging in corruption and nepotism, Ramesh questioned why the Prime Minister was putting people’s hard earned money in LIC and SBI at risk to benefit his “friend” Adani.

“Why are you letting the thieves escape? Why are you silent on the rampant corruption in BJP ruled states and why are you letting Indians suffer?

On the issue of national security, Ramesh said the Congress wanted to ask “why is it that even after your clean chit to China in 2020, they continue to occupy Indian territory”.

He also asked why “politics of hate” was being deliberately used for electoral gains and alleged that an atmosphere of fear was being created in the society.

“Why are you silent on atrocities against women, Dalits, SC, ST, OBC and minorities? Why are you ignoring the demand for caste-based census,” Ramesh said in another poser.

He also questioned the government on democracy and federalism and alleged that it has “undermined” our constitutional values and democratic institutions in the last nine years.

Khera alleged that the promises made by the government in the last nine years were different from the reality.

“So when we ask for answers, don’t take us back 900 years. Everyone wants to know what you did in the last nine years… We would request you (PM) to apologize for betraying the country in the last nine years during the programs to be held in the next five days.

Ramesh asked, “Why are you doing vendetta politics against opposition parties and leaders and why are you using open money power to destabilize the governments elected by the people?”

He alleged that the government has diluted schemes meant for the welfare of the poor, needy and tribals by cutting the budget and making restrictive rules.

“Why is it that despite the tragic death of over 40 lakh people due to COVID-19, the Modi government has refused to pay compensation to their families? Why did you suddenly impose a lockdown, forcing lakhs of workers to return home, and not provide any assistance?” Ramesh asked.
