8 boys rescued from station | Bhubaneswar News – Times of India

Berhampur: The Railway Child Helpdesk of Childline Foundation of India (CFI) along with Government Railway Police (GRP) rescued eight teenage boys from the railway station here on Wednesday evening.
The boys, in the age group of 15 to 17 years, are residents of Sorada and Digpahandi areas of Ganjam district. He was saved while being sent Andhra Pradesh and Mumbai for work. The boys were presented before the District Child Welfare Committee after registering a case in the GRP here. Prabhu Prasad Patra of CFI.
During interrogation, the officials came to know that the boys were going to Andhra Pradesh and Mumbai in search of jobs. “The boys did not reveal the name of the smuggler who lured them. We didn’t even find the smuggler at the police station. Investigation is on to trace the accused.” Letter added.
Taking advantage of the poor economic condition of the people in “Ganjam, Kandhamal and Gajapati Districts, smugglers lure teenagers with job offers,” said Sudhir Sabat, child rights activist.
Child rights activists urged the administration to keep a strict vigil on smugglers in tribal villages.
