Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has directed all concerned agencies, including PWD and DDA, to complete every pending work to decongest 77 corridors and improve traffic flow within three months, official sources said on Tuesday.

He has also asked the Chief Secretary of Delhi to resolve all pending inter-departmental issues and fix a time limit for completion of each task.

Sources present in the meeting chaired by Saxena on Monday said the LG directed the officials to meet the deadline and fix responsibility in case of delay.

He said that while expressing displeasure over the year-long delay in removal of religious structures, shanties and trees, Saxena called on the authorities to ensure total inter-departmental coordination and use court orders as “excuses” for non-performance. Inappropriate” use, he said.

Officials of various departments including PWD, Forest, Home, Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board and Delhi Development Authority were present in the meeting.

According to sources, out of 119 pending works, 58 were to be acted upon by the PWD.

He said that five works related to removal of trees at eight places, shanties at seven places and religious structures at 17 places, replacement of power transformers and poles, and non-availability of adequate parking outside the banquet halls are decongesting important stretches. , They said.

These stretches include Mehrauli-Gurgaon Road, Mehrauli-Badarpur Road, Ring Road (Vijay Nagar to Burari Chowk) and Loni Road (Shahdara GT Road to Loni Border).

Sources said the LG told the officials that he would personally oversee the decongestion exercise and any deviation from the directions would be taken very seriously.

He said that regarding the ‘Religious Places Committee’ which decided to remove the religious places, it was decided that a meeting of the panel would be held on every last working day of the month and all pending matters would be decided.

Sources further informed that in case of parking at banquet hall sites, it was decided that DDA would hand over the identified land at institutional rates to the MCD, which would include the association of banquet halls and they would be required to construct multi-level parking at their own cost. Will get it done In lieu of land provided for this purpose.
