The wall of an under-construction godown collapsed in Delhi’s Alipore area on Friday. So far 5 people have died in the accident. At the same time, many laborers are feared trapped in the debris. Police and fire brigade teams have reached the spot and the rescue operation is going on.
Debris is being removed rapidly from the spot.
Delhi Police said that so far 10 people have been rescued from the rubble. The injured have been admitted to hospital. The condition of two of these people is said to be critical. Around 25 people are feared trapped under the debris.
The pillar was removed with the help of a crane.
It is being told that the accident happened at 12.30 pm. According to the information, due to the falling of the brick wall, there was a problem in removing the debris. In such a situation, JCB machine was put to work.
Around 25 laborers were working near the wall at the time of the accident.
Kejriwal expressed grief over the accident
Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal tweeted after the accident. He wrote, ‘A sad accident happened in Alipore. The district administration is engaged in relief and rescue work. I am personally monitoring the relief work. I pray to God for the peace of the departed souls.
Fire at a restaurant in Connaught Place
Earlier, a fire broke out in a restaurant in Delhi’s Connaught Place at 5.32 am on Friday. On receiving information about the incident, 6 fire tenders reached the spot and doused the fire. There is no news of any casualties in the accident. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
