4,029 new Covid cases registered in Pune city; Hospitalization rates remain low – Henry’s Club

Pune city on Sunday registered a daily positivity rate of 22.37 per cent with 4,029 new Covid cases. This took the active cases to 14,890, even as the civil administration decided to ensure strict implementation of the new restrictions. However, the hospitalization rate continued to decline with only 5.48 per cent of the total active cases being hospitalised.

There has also been a slight increase in the number of people needing treatment in the ICU – 39 patients are on ventilators and 134 are on oxygen therapy. One death was reported due to Covid, taking the toll to 9,127. At present, 526 ventilator beds and 3,983 oxygen beds are vacant in city hospitals. The civil administration has decided to restart the operation of 800 bedded Jumbo Covid Hospital in Shivajinagar in a phased manner. Patients are being treated at the dedicated Kovid Hospital and Naidu Hospital in Baner.

Meanwhile, the PMC and PCMC administrations have decided to ensure strict implementation of the COVID restrictions, which will come into force from midnight.

Schools and colleges will remain closed for offline teaching till February 15, while swimming pools, wellness centers and spas will also remain closed. Weddings and other public events will be limited to 50 people while funerals will be allowed only 20 people.

Amusement parks and playgrounds will remain closed. Commercial as well as government establishments have been asked to function with 50 per cent staff. It is mandatory for all persons to be fully vaccinated while traveling in public transport, malls, theatres, restaurants, private and government offices.
