The death toll in the accident rose to three when a man fell from a helicopter while being rescued last evening. A horrifying video showed the man clinging to a rope hanging from a helicopter for several moments before he suddenly lost his grip and collapsed, leaving witnesses screaming in shock.
The rescue operation had to be called off after sunset last evening as the ropeway passes through a picturesque yet dense forest surrounded by hills, which is difficult to reach except by air.
Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has ordered a high-level inquiry into the ropeway accident. In a tweet yesterday, the Chief Minister said, “I express my deepest condolences on the incident and the deaths at Trikoot mountain. There will be a high level inquiry into the matter.”
The administration, army and NDRF team are working with full readiness to rescue the people trapped in the Deoghar Trikut ropeway accident.
I am constantly monitoring the situation. Soon all will be taken out safely.
