Rajkot: The forest department has arrested a 25-year-old farm labourer who had chased two lions on a village road and recorded the video in Amreli district.
The video was widely circulated on social media on September 4 after which the department launched a probe and identified the man identified as Devku Mobh of Bhavardi village in Khambha taluka.
In the video, Mobh is seen chasing two sub-adult lions on his motorcycle and forcing them to run.
Based on the technical surveillance and human sources, the forest department identified the registration number of the bike and caught Mobh. He was brought to Tulsishyam range office where he confessed to have resorted to the act for fun. His mobile was seized and sent for forensic examination. The department also invoked the section pertaining to hunting of Wildlife Protection Act against him.
