Jammu and Kashmir National Conference president Farooq Abdullah on Wednesday asked Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin to “come to the national scene” and said the DMK top leader was likely to become prime minister if the opposition parties unite and win the 2024 general elections. Is.

Addressing a mega public meeting organized by the DMK in Chennai to celebrate Stalin’s 70th birthday, Abdullah suggested the Congress to forget about the choice of prime minister and focus only on winning the Lok Sabha elections next year.

When asked about the opposition’s prime ministerial candidate, Abdullah said, “When we all unite and win, then it will be decided who is the best person to lead and unite this country…Stalin, It’s time to come. Build the national landscape and nation like you have built this state. (Mallikarjuna) To Kharge ji, I would say, forget who is going to be the PM. First win the election, then think who will become the PM. It is not the Prime Minister that matters, it is the nation that matters.”

Asked whether Stalin could be the prime ministerial candidate, news agency ANI quoted him as saying, “Why not? Why can’t he become PM? what’s wrong with that?”

Meanwhile, Stalin said all opposition parties should rise above their differences and come together to fight the BJP. “This is not just the stage of my birthday celebration. It is also the beginning of a huge political stage in India. All parties opposed to BJP will come together. This unity will ensure our victory. Let all parties rise above their differences and form BJP in 2024.” We have to stand together to defeat it.

Apart from this, the leader of the Samajwadi Party Akhilesh Yadav Stalin and expressed confidence that the latter would rise to national prominence. He said that Stalin has done exemplary work for the development of Tamil Nadu as the Chief Minister.

Recalling Stalin’s rise through the ranks of the DMK and especially as the first elected mayor of Chennai, Yadav referred to the leader’s arrest during the Emergency and said it was his contribution to democracy.

He said, “I would love to lead the coming generations towards justice along with other leaders. I wish him good health and continued pursuit of his unique pursuit of social justice and equality-oriented good governance. I am sure he will reach great political heights and national prominence.”

Never said who would become PM: Kharge

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, who also attended Stalin’s birthday celebrations in Chennai, said it was imperative to fight unitedly against “divisive forces” and indicated that the question of a PM candidate from such a block was “not a question”.

“All like-minded opposition parties should come together in this fight against divisive forces. I never said who will lead, who will become the prime minister. We (Congress) are not telling who will or will not lead. This is not a question. We want to fight unitedly, this is our wish. That’s why we have sacrificed many times in the name of secularism, in the name of freedom, in the name of freedom of expression.

Stalin’s supporters and party workers across Tamil Nadu celebrated his 70th birthday with enthusiasm and PM Narendra Modi And many leaders congratulated him on the occasion. President Draupadi Murmu and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar wrote letters to Stalin congratulating him on his birthday.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah and former Congress chief Sonia Gandhi also wished Stalin on his birthday. PM Modi and Rahul Gandhi Tweeted congratulations.
