The consulate stated that it assisted with the documentation and transfer of his mortal remains to India and that it is still in contact with local authorities and the Indian-American community about the subject.

Sources reported that the last rites of 20-year-old Paruchuru had already been performed in his birthplace of Tenali, Andhra Pradesh. TEAM Aid, a charitable organization based in the United States, assisted in transporting his body to India.

Students are missing from the beginning of 2024

Since the beginning of 2024, at least a half dozen Indian and Indian-origin students have died in the United States. The worrying increase in the frequency of attacks has raised concerns within the community.

On February 5, authorities found the body of Sameer Kamath, a 23-year-old Indian-American Purdue University student, in an Indiana nature preserve.

On February 2, attackers outside a restaurant in Washington inflicted potentially fatal injuries on Vivek Taneja, a 41-year-old IT professional of Indian descent, making him the sixth Indian or Indian-American fatality in the US in recent months.
