Nashik: Number of schools reopening in Nashik The district has seen a steady increase as there has been a decline in the number of Covid cases.
Since July 19, 395 schools have started physical classes by connecting 171 schools in the last one week across the district. Schools are being allowed to reopen only after the decision of the Village Level School Committee.

The village level school committee can give permission to reopen only if there is no active case in the village for at least 30 days. Schools will also have to sanitize all infrastructure, put in place physical distancing measures for children and RT-PCR tests of teachers.
Initially, when the schools were given permission to start functioning by the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), the number of schools willing to reopen was 332. Of these, 208 had started functioning. By August 2, this number had increased to 224.
Then, recently, the Education Officer, Nashik Zilla Parishad ordered the closure of 14 schools in different taluks due to the rise in the number of COVID cases. Five schools were closed because teaching staff, non-teaching staff or students tested positive, while nine schools were closed as fresh Covid cases were reported in villages. 12 teachers, one non-teaching staff and three students were tested positive for the infection.
The schools that are now functioning have about 74,000 students on roll and the number of attendees is about 36,000. Parents must give written consent to send their children to school. “The attendance is hovering around 45 to 55 per cent,” the official said.
Schools across the state are closed since March 2020 due to the COVID pandemic. Many schools started and continue to provide online education. But the demand for reopening the schools as soon as possible is increasing continuously.
