11 MBBS students of Nagpur College test COVID-19 positive

At least 11 first-year MBBS students at a private medical college in Maharashtra have tested positive for COVID-19, the dean of the college said on Tuesday. He said that these students were found infected during the test in the last two days.

“We have dengue patients undergoing treatment at a hospital attached to the medical college. When two of our students developed fever, we suspected it might be dengue. However, before admitting them to the hospital, we fasted. Antigen tests were done, which confirmed on Sunday that they were coronavirus positive,” Dr Dilip Goode, Dean of Datta Meghe Medical College told PTI.

He said that after these two cases were detected, the doctors went to the hostel to examine all the students, and about 60 of them who had some symptoms were tested for RT-PCR, of which nine tested positive on Monday. .

At least 100 students have been quarantined in the college hostel, the dean said, adding that none of these students have any symptoms like fever and have good oxygen levels.

“The college is attached to Shalinitai Meghe Hospital and Research Centre, which is a dedicated COVID-19 hospital. We have all the information about the treatment and no student has any symptoms. The doctors are visiting the students in their rooms. are,” she said.

He said that RT-PCR test of all the students will be done in the hostel on Wednesday.
