Jaipur: The Rajasthan Board of secondary education (RBSE) Tops the list of all the state boards coming up with the most success stories in the National Eligibility cum Test exam (NEET) The result was declared on Monday.
RBSE has 5,604 students out of the first 50,000 rank holders, followed by Maharashtra State Board of Secondary Education with 3,330 students. CBSE, which has schools in every state, has 22,903 students in the top 50,000, including several hundred from Rajasthan. The figures mean that out of every 100 top performers, 10 are from the state.
According to rough estimates, about 2/3 of the students are from government schools with poor economic and rural backgrounds who are largely writing success scripts on their own. Ram Niwas of Bhimtal village of Barmer has secured 712th rank in NEET. he cracked Examination Without any formal coaching institute. Ramnivas said, “I prepared with the help of my teachers from RBSE books.”
Dr Bharat Saran, a doctor from a government hospital in Barmer, is running a service organization for 50 villagers, providing free coaching to poor students who aspire to become doctors. This year, 10 students from his center cracked NEET by relying only on textbooks. “RBSE is one of the toughest board in the country since its inception. Those who study science from RBSE develop better aptitude for any competitive exam,” said Saran.
National Award winner Girdhar Singh, principal of a government senior secondary school in Malpura, has evaluated senior secondary books from different states for a national programme. He said, “The strength of RBSE lies in regular revision of syllabus. It not only updates the syllabus keeping other boards in mind but also draws inspiration from the international curriculum. Teaching pedagogy followed by teachers is also responsible for the power-packed result,” said Singh. TOI reached out to Education Minister Govind Singh Dotasara and RBSE Chairman DP Jaroli but were not available for comment. Sources said it was the state’s overall best performance, beating the state boards of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. The data showed that 13 boards account for more than 50% of the top 50.
The state has the fifth highest number of students appearing for NEET, which is still a huge figure for the state which is among the worst in terms of literacy levels. In fact, the state has earned notoriety for having the worst literacy rate among women in the country.
