While Swami Vivekananda Jayanti, Mayor and Minister of Kolkata Municipality Firhad Hakim arrived in Chetla wearing saffron Punjabi at the wreath laying ceremony on Vivekananda’s statue. According to many, he left in a luxury car. Then he explained the reason for wearing saffron. Firhad Hakim said, BJP does not have the case. Vivekananda is all over India. If there is no conscious consciousness, there will be no unified consciousness. Secularism was taught by Tagore and Vivekananda. If BJP really has respect for Vivekananda, a Muslim should go to his house and say, “Where has my caste gone?”
He said, Vivekananda is not for those who do politics on the basis of caste and religion. Bikeband is above all these. God cannot be served by killing people, people should be loved. But Firhad Hakim is rarely seen in Gerua Punjabi. But what happened that they too had to wear saffron?
Firhad Hakim said, today is Vivekananda’s birthday. We call on the youth. Vivekananda is the symbol of sacrifice. Hence this color is a symbol of sacrifice. BJP is a symbol of fun. And those of us who are true devotees of Vivekananda wear it as a symbol of renunciation. Actually BJP has not patented this colour. I want to prove this.
Targeting BJP state president Sukant Majumdar, Firhad said, “When you visit Swami Vivekananda’s house, your heart should also be of the same size.” Sarcasm, it is inappropriate to say all these things there. Whenever someone joins BJP, he will no longer get calls from CBI, ED. That’s why we get calls.
Along with this, Firhad Hakim said about Bengali children going abroad that it is because those who did not allow computers to enter Bengal are responsible for it. In the early 90s, those who didn’t let computers in, sent IT to other states. Now we’re trying to get IT back here.
Meanwhile, Shubhendu Adhikari, the leader of the opposition party in the state, taunted that if there was such education in the state, even Swami would have left Bengal. In that context, Firhad Hakim said, Shubhendu should not see what Swamiji used to do. Thousands of people in Bengal are following the ideals of Swamiji. After the formation of Mamta Banerjee’s government in Bengal, we are trying to make the youth of Bengal stand with Swamiji.
Regarding Ganga Aarti, he said that the matter of security will be looked into. Then it can be done.
