A three-day fair is starting from today in Amboya village of Aanj Bhoj area under Paonta Sahib sub-division of District Sirmaur. This fair is organized every year since 1952. However, due to the Corona period, this fair could not be held for two years.

For more than 6 decades, a fair is held every year for three days in the memory of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. This fair will start on January 30, the martyrdom day of Mahatma Gandhi. There is also a Gandhi temple in Amboya near the fair site, where people pay obeisance. People from far off places including Anjbhoj come to see this fair.

In this fair, Rajpur, Tauru, Nagheta, Banour, Shiva, Bharli, Bhaila, Ramnagar, Klatha, Bhangani, Danda, Pagar and Sunog etc. 20 villages of Anjbhoj area, besides Paonta Sahib sub-division and District Sirmour, people from neighboring states Mahatma Gandhi reaches to pay their respects.

The people of Amboya and surrounding rural areas assemble on 30th January and take out Prabhat Pheri. This fair, which lasts for three days, ends with a wrestling competition on February 1. Apart from cultural programs, patriotic programs are also organized during the fair.

Former panchayat head Nishikant Mehta said that this fair is celebrated to remember the martyrdom of Mahatma Gandhi. They say that Mahatma Gandhi sacrificed his life for the country. This fair is celebrated here every year since 1952 in his memory. The only temple of the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi in North India is located in Amboya.
