The Bombay High Court has said that animals cannot be sacrificed in housing societies without permission. The court has asked the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to ensure that there is no illegal animal sacrifice in housing societies on the occasion of Bakrid.

The division bench of Justice GS Kulkarni and Justice Jitendra Jain of the Bombay High Court gave this order after an urgent hearing on Wednesday night.

Haresh Jain, a resident of Mumbai’s Nathani Heights Society, had appealed to the High Court to ban animal sacrifice in his society. Hearing this, the court said that the sacrifice can be given in the Nathani Heights Society only when the administration has given its permission.

The court said that in the present case the municipal corporation has not given its permission. Therefore, BMC officials with the help of police personnel may take adequate steps to stop illegal animal sacrifice in the society.

The BMC told the court that officials would visit the society to investigate and take action if necessary.

There was a dispute over bringing a goat in Vinay Nagar Society in Mira Road area of ​​Mumbai. A family brought two goats here on Tuesday, due to which the people of the society got angry and started protesting.

When the family brought the goats from the lift, the incident was recorded on camera. After the video surfaced, the people of the society protested against it.

People alleged that these goats were brought for sacrifice. The police have registered a case against 11 people in this matter.

When the family did not agree to remove the goats, the dispute turned into a ruckus. The situation turned tense by 11 pm on Tuesday night.

The police were called in to handle the situation. Meanwhile, a scuffle also took place between the protesting people and the police.

Police said that according to the rules, a goat cannot be sacrificed in a flat. If anyone violates this rule, we will take action against him. After this the family took the goats out of the society.

However, the family that brought the goat said that they had no intention of sacrificing the goat inside the society.
