Fruit and vegetable crops have been affected in 18 states of the country due to unseasonal rains that have been continuing for 15 days. Major damage has been done to onion crops in Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra. Potato in Uttar Pradesh and crops of green vegetables in most of the states including Punjab, Delhi have suffered more damage.

Effect- Fruits and vegetables will be expensive
According to the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAI), crops of green vegetables have been damaged on a large scale. Due to this, there is a possibility of increase in their prices. The effect of damage to the last crop of grapes will be seen on the prices of raisins in the markets. The loss of potato and onion is not as much as that of vegetables. The rains since last 15 days will reduce the yield of mangoes by 15%. The Meteorological Department has expressed the possibility of rain even further.
