The Meghalaya government did not give permission to PM Modi’s election campaign rally in Tura. The rally was to be held at the PA Sangma Sports Complex. The Meghalaya government has come under fire from the BJP for not giving permission to the rally to be held in West Garo Hills district.
On Tuesday, the Meghalaya BJP issued a statement that people will always hate the Chief Minister for this decision.
Meghalaya has a scared and insecure CM – BJP
Meghalaya BJP spokesperson Bernard N Marak on Tuesday called Chief Minister K Sangma a scared and insecure CM. Marak said – The director of the Sports and Youth Affairs Department did not give us permission for the rally at PA Sangma Stadium at the behest of the scared. It is very unfortunate and sad that a Prime Minister has been stopped from meeting his people.
BJP said – Sangma’s fear of defeat made him mad
Marak did not stop there, he said that the fear of losing the election has made Sangma mad. The people of Garo Hills will hate Sangma for the rest of his life for this decision. However, the national president of National Ruling Party NPP and CM Sangma rejected these allegations of BJP. He said that he had no role in stopping the PM’s rally.
Meghalaya CM Sangma said that the Election Commission gives permission to hold an election rally. I have nothing to do with this matter.
Sangma said – I have nothing to do with it
Sangma said, “The Election Commission and the district administration give permission for the election campaign rally. That’s when instructions were sent to the poll panel. All the permissions are received from the Election Commission. On the basis of this, the district administration takes action. That’s why neither the NPP Neither I have anything to do with it. It is wrong to drag us into this issue. Even I did not get permission to rally at many places.”

On the question of the reason for not getting permission for the rally of BJP, CM Sangma said – It is true that when there is a program of PM Modi, a large number of people come to listen to him. So, I think the district administration must have realized that the presence of a large number of people can harm nature.
Meghalaya Legislative Assembly: Seats- 60, Majority- 31
Elections were held on 59 seats in Meghalaya in 2018. The Congress had won the maximum 21 seats. BJP could get only 2 seats here. The National People’s Party (NPEP) got 19 seats. It formed the government together with PDF and HSPDP. He formed the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA).
The parties here are in election mode for the last three months. Congress has already released the list of 40 and NPP 58 candidates.
