Ajmer received heavy rains from Biparjoy on Monday. Roads were filled with water at many places.
Heavy rains continue in Rajasthan due to Biparjoy storm. The Jaipur Meteorological Center has issued a red alert on Monday, anticipating heavy to very heavy rains in Sawai Madhopur, Bundi districts. At the same time, Orange Alert has been issued for Kota, Karauli, Baran, Bhilwara and Tonk.

A young man died by drowning in a bauri (a kind of well) located in the Jodhpur Mahamandir area. Mahamandir police station SHO Mukta Parikh said that 20-year-old Shravan, a resident of Sansi Basti Khokharia, had come with his friends around 4 pm on Monday. He had jumped into the stepwell to take a bath. Didn’t come out again. Civil Defense team was called on the spot. Shravan’s body could be recovered after about 5 hours of effort. Shravan was married only 4 years ago. He has 2 children.
Flood situation in Pali, Jalore, Barmer and Sirohi
It rained in many districts of the state in the last 24 hours. Rainfall up to 300 mm i.e. 12 inches was recorded at many places. There are flood like situations in Pali, Jalore, Barmer and Sirohi. So far 7 people have died due to floods and rains in the state.
According to the Meteorological Center Jaipur, on June 19 and 20, the effect of Biparjoy will be in Bharatpur, Kota division. The cyclone will further weaken and convert into a low pressure area from the depression. The cyclone is currently moving towards the North-East direction at a speed of 10 km per hour.
Maximum 18 inches of rain in Jalore
Jalore received maximum rainfall due to the cyclone. Here during 36 hours (from 8:30 am on June 17 to 8:30 pm on June 18) 456 mm i.e. 18 inches of water fell. Similarly, Ahor (Jalore) recorded 471 mm of rain, Bhinmal 217, Ranivada 322, Chitalwana 338, Sanchore 296, Jaswantpura 332, Bagoda 310 and Sayla 411 mm. Due to this the situation in Jalore became uncontrollable. Thousands of people were taken to safer places with the help of NDRF-SDRF.
A Gujarat Roadways bus got stuck in water filled underpass at Abu Road in Sirohi.
Khadat underpass got waterlogged after rains at Abu Road in Sirohi district. On Monday afternoon, the Gujarat Roadways bus coming from Ambaji to Abu Road stopped amidst water filled in the underpass. During this time about 30 passengers were sitting in the bus. When the bus stopped, the villagers tried to get the bus out of the tractor at their own level. They could not succeed. On receiving the information, SDM Govind Singh Bhinchar reached the spot. After this the bus was pulled out with the help of a crane.

- Around 100 people are stranded in 3 settlements under Rohat police station area of Pali district. The SDRF team has reached to evacuate them.
- Railways on Monday canceled the operation of 11 trains going via Jodhpur to Jalore till June 19. Three trains are being run via Marwar Junction, Palanpur. At the same time, more than 10 trains running on the Udaipur-Ajmer route were delayed by half to two hours.
- Due to overflow of Nimbali drain in Bhinmal of Jalore district, water entered many settlements including Krishi Mandi Road, Harijan Basti, Khetawat Market, Talbi Road of the city. NDRF and SDRF teams have so far evacuated 39 people.
- In the last 3 days, 7 people have lost their lives due to this disaster. In Pali, two people died on Sunday night after being swept away in water. Similarly, 50-year-old Pakaram’s son Jekaram Jogi, a resident of Shivaji Nagar in Falna, was swept away in a drain near his house.
The administration and the villagers rescued the tractor stuck in the middle of the river at Karanwa in Pali.

More than 20 cyclones came in the last 12 years, but the most impressive Biparjoy
Biparjoy is considered to be the most effective of the storms that have come from the Arabian Sea so far. It remained active for 13 consecutive days. It rained the most. According to the report of the Meteorological Center, New Delhi, from the year 2011 to 2023, there have been more than 20 cyclones in the Arabian Sea. The most impressive and longest active cyclone in this is Biparjoy.
On June 6, this cyclone started in the Arabian Sea as a Depression, which later converted into Deep Depression, Cyclone Storm, Severe Cyclone Storm, Very Severe Cyclone Storm, Extremely Severe Cyclone Storm. Earlier, Cyclone “Luban” in October 2018 was active for 10 days and Cyclone “Kyarr” in October-November 2019 was active for 10 days.
