Three DRG jawans were killed in an encounter between police and Naxalites in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh. The Maoists have targeted the security forces who went out on the search by ambushing them. According to Sukma SP Sunil Sharma, 5 to 6 Naxalites have also been killed in the encounter. About 100 Naxalites were present nearby.
According to the information, the DRG personnel were on a Naxal operation and security for the road construction work between Jagargunda-Kunded. The Maoists who had already ambushed here opened fire on the jawans. The soldiers also took the front and fought them strongly.
Fellow soldiers were present near the dead body of the soldier who was martyred in the encounter.
CM Bhupesh Baghel has expressed grief over the martyrdom of the soldiers. Also expressed condolences to the families of the martyrs. Opposing the Naxalite incident, he said that the sacrifice of the jawans will not go in vain.

On January 28 also, there was a tremendous encounter between police and Naxalites in Useli forests of Amabeda area, just 20 kilometers away from Kanker district headquarters. After half an hour of firing from both the sides, seeing the jawans being overwhelmed, the Naxalites fled under the cover of the forest.
