Recently, Sachin Pilot surprised not only the Rajasthan Congress but even the Delhi High Command by fasting against his own government. As a result of this, 7 meetings were held in Delhi in one and a half days.

Even after 2 weeks, the noise of the pilot’s hunger strike has not stopped. Sachin Pilot is not changing his path despite constant warnings from state in-charge Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa. After the fast, now even in meetings, he is besieging the Ashok Gehlot government for not taking action against the alleged corruption of the Vasundhara Raje government.

Everyone wants to know what happened after Sachin Pilot’s fast? Why did Sachin Pilot go to Delhi on the very next day of his fast? What issues did Randhawa discuss with Rahul Gandhi, National President Mallikarjun Kharge, General Secretary and MP KC Venugopal in the meeting? Why and how was the entry of senior Congress leader Kamal Nath in the case by sidelining Randhawa?

To know the answers to these questions, Bhaskar talked to 5 big Congress leaders. He told the details of the seven meetings held in Delhi. Also answered the question why the high command is hesitating to take action against Sachin Pilot despite his fast against his own government.

Read- Inside Story…

Sachin Pilot went on a one-day fast against his own government on April 11 to protest against no action against the alleged corruption of the Vasundhara Raje government.

Sachin Pilot went on a one-day fast against his own government on April 11 to protest against no action against the alleged corruption of the Vasundhara Raje government.

Randhawa reached the national president’s house on the next day of the fast.

Sachin Pilot went on a fast on 11th April. Just a day before this, Randhawa had warned that Pilot’s fast was against the party. He has been in charge for five months and Sachin Pilot should have talked to him before going on fast.

Despite the warning, the pilots did not back down and went on hunger strike at the appointed time. Sachin reached Delhi on 12 April, the next day of the fast. On April 12 itself, Randhawa also reached Delhi to talk to the high command regarding the pilot’s fast. Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge, K.C. between Venugopal and Randhawa.

First meeting: Randhawa gave clarification for himself and also complained about the pilot

Congress sources say that Randhawa did not go to Delhi on his own free will after Pilot’s fast. Rather, he was summoned because of the headlines in the media and the infighting going on within the party in Rajasthan.

The question of the high command was that why Randhawa did not talk to the pilot in time and why the situation of hunger strike was not stopped? In the first meeting there was a discussion between Mallikarjun Kharge, Venugopal and Randhawa. Randhawa complained about Pilot regarding the fast in front of Mallikarjun Kharge and Venugopal.

Randhawa said- ‘The pilot did not even talk to the state in-charge before announcing the fast. The pilot decided on his own level. Pilot has crossed the party line. Due to this, the atmosphere created in favor of Congress after the budget is deteriorating. Action against the pilot is necessary. Kharge and Venugopal did not react much after listening to Randhawa. Both told Randhawa that tomorrow (April 13) will talk more in this regard.

Second meeting: Meeting at Kharge’s bungalow

On April 13, Randhawa reached Kharge’s bungalow in the morning. Venugopal was also with him. There was a discussion between the three about the ongoing political developments in Rajasthan. This meeting ended quickly.

Recently, while talking to the media at Birla Auditorium in Jaipur, Randhawa said – Pilot should speak in the Vidhan Sabha instead of fasting. Also said that my old statement is the stand of the party.

Third meeting: Allegations- some MLAs helped the pilot

In the third meeting held on April 13 itself, Randhawa told Kharge and Venugopal that Pilot was also getting the support of some MLAs, who were present at the Manesar barricade.

Randhawa also said that during the fast, the MLA did not appear directly to the pilot, but he made arrangements for many people from Jaipur and nearby districts to reach the site of the fast.

Many sarpanchs, panchayat samiti members, councilors had also reached to support the pilot during the fast. Kharge and Venugopal listened to Randhawa’s entire statement and asked him to meet Rahul Gandhi.

Fourth meeting: Randhawa’s meeting with Rahul Gandhi

Randhawa met Rahul Gandhi after placing the whole matter in front of Kharge and Venugopal. Rahul Gandhi also heard Randhawa. Here Randhawa said that Pilot should have talked to him before the fast. If they were dissatisfied, they would have tried to solve it by talking to the government, but the pilot did not give such an opportunity.

…and then the entry of Kamal Nath

Sources said that after the departure of Randhawa, there was a churn among the Congress high command. It was decided that arbitration would be done in this matter. After this, the name of senior Congress leader Kamal Nath was decided. The high command asked Kamal Nath to talk to the pilot, listen to him and intervene to persuade him.

Randhawa told Kharge and Rahul Gandhi – Pilot should have talked to them before the fast. They would have tried to solve it by talking to the government, but the pilot did not give a chance.

Why was Kamal Nath only asked to talk to the pilot?

Kamal Nath and Sachin Pilot had good relations during the Manmohan Singh government of the Congress i.e. UPA II. During that time both were members of the Manmohan team as ministers. Kamal Nath was included in the cabinet of UPA 2 during that time as Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Pilot as Minister of Corporate Affairs. In such a situation, the name of Kamal Nath came in the mind of the high command. Kamal Nath was given the responsibility of listening to the pilot.

Fifth and sixth meeting: Kamal Nath met Venugopal and Randhawa separately

The high command wanted to deal with the pilot case very sensitively in view of the assembly elections to be held after a few months and did not want to take any risk. This is the reason why Kamal Nath was chosen to talk to the pilot and resolve the issue.

Kamal Nath first understood the spirit of the high command from Organization General Secretary Venugopal. After this met Randhawa. What Randhawa had said in front of Rahul Gandhi, Kharge and Venugopal, he said the same thing to Kamal Nath.

Seventh meeting: two-hour meeting of Kamal Nath and Pilot

After understanding the sentiments of the Congress high command, there was a meeting between Kamal Nath and Sachin Pilot in the evening. Pilot himself had come to meet Kamal Nath. This meeting lasted for about two hours.

According to sources, Pilot clearly said about the fast that it was his decision and he did not use the party forum. The fast was not at all anti-party. During this meeting, Pilot placed all his complaints in front of Kamal Nath. It is said that there was a very open conversation between Kamal Nath and Pilot. Pilot told about the promises made by the party and also complained about not fulfilling them.

Sachin Pilot and Kamal Nath were ministers in the Manmohan Singh government and both have good relations. This is the reason why the Congress high command chose Kamal Nath to resolve the matter.

Now what next: Kamal Nath can also meet Gehlot

Kamal Nath may soon meet Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot to find a respectable solution to the pilot issue. Although nothing is decided yet, it is being said that this meeting will be possible only if needed.

The Congress high command is trying to find a respectable solution in view of the assembly elections. Gehlot and Pilot do not want to take the risk of angering anyone. It is believed that the phase of meetings and brainstorming will continue. Only after this, Kamal Nath will put his views in front of Rahul Gandhi and Kharge to resolve the dispute.

Kamal Nath also knows that action on Pilot will harm the party

According to sources, Kamal Nath has given his preliminary opinion to the high command after meeting the pilot. He has clearly said that if any action is taken against Pilot, the party will suffer.

Here, Chief Minister Gehlot has sent a report to the high command through Randhawa regarding the 7 issues raised by Pilot in his letter and accused of not taking action against the then Vasundhara Raje government. He has sent the status of those issues point-wise.

Sources associated with the Congress say that if needed, Kamal Nath can also meet Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot to resolve the matter.

2 big reasons for not taking action

First: Pilot’s influence is in entire Rajasthan

According to political experts, the impact of Pilot is not limited to certain regions or districts. His influence is in the whole of Rajasthan. Pilot is also counted among the national leaders of the Congress. Pilot, who belongs to Gurjar community, did not do the politics of the society.

If we look at his supporting MLAs, Gurjar, Meena, Jat or Rajput are from all classes. In the next assembly elections, Pilot’s displeasure can harm the Congress more than the BJP. This is the reason that in the case of Pilot, the Congress wants to slow down the steps.

The Congress, which is confined to a few states of the country, does not want to lose a big state like Rajasthan under any circumstances in the next assembly elections.

In the election year, the Congress high command does not want to take any such step, due to which it will have to suffer loss. This is the reason why the Congress is taking steps in the Pilot case in haste.

Second: If action is taken, pending indiscipline cases will also arise

Some political experts also believe that if any action is taken against the pilot regarding his fast, then questions will also arise regarding the previous pending cases. Parliamentary Affairs and UDH Minister Shanti Dhariwal, Water Supply Minister Mahesh Joshi and RTDC Chairman Dharmendra Rathore were accused of not allowing the Legislature Party meeting to take place and holding a parallel Legislature Party meeting despite the high command reaching there four months ago. During this, the resignation scandal of MLAs also took place. Venugopal had said that he has not been given a clean chit, pending inquiry in the Congress Disciplinary Committee.
