Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi today. In this meeting, Maan will demand from the Prime Minister to release a total of Rs 5,800 crore of funds withheld by the central government from Punjab’s share.

The central government owes Rs 3,600 crore to Punjab’s Rural Development Fund (RDF) and Rs 600 crore to the National Health Mission (NHM). Apart from this, the fund of Rs 1600 crore has also been stopped for the Special Capital Assistant.

Due to its non-release, an economic challenge remains in front of the Punjab government. At the same time, the Punjab government has also made up its mind to go to the Supreme Court in this matter. But before this, CM Punjab Bhagwant Mann has decided to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and discuss the issue.

CM has met ministers, has also written letters
The Finance Department of Punjab has submitted a report to the government. In this, the outstanding amount of Punjab’s share with the Central Government has been told. Along with this, it has also been mentioned that for how long this fund is pending. It is worth mentioning that in the past, CM Punjab Bhagwant Mann has met various Union Ministers and demanded the release of pending funds. Along with this, he has also written a letter to the Union Minister in this regard. Despite this, Punjab is not getting the cooperation of the central government.

Union Minister said – If the scheme is closed then the fund is closed
Recently Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya visited Chandigarh-Panchkula. He said that the central government has given funds to Punjab for wellness centers under NHM. However, the Punjab government spent the central scheme money on its Mohalla clinics under the state scheme. He clearly said that when the central scheme has been stopped by Punjab then why should the funds be released as well.
